Network Coverage Update
2G in call handover - sharing the Orange and T-Mobile signal seamlessly
The signal share is now complete. Early results are already showing a real improvement to dropped call rates and there have been an incredible 5.5 million inter-network handovers since the first phase went live on October 12th.
3G Signal Share - using 3G signal from both Orange and T-Mobile
Sharing 3G signal is being rolled out geographically and started on the 17 October so anyone with a 3G compatible device will be able to benefit from 3G signal from Orange and T-Mobile (where available). The roll-out will be complete week commencing 12th December 2011.
Customers will be able to use the 3G signal from both Orange and T-Mobile so they can benefit from fast internet, email and any other service that uses data, in even more places.
To date on 3G roaming there have been around 10 million voice calls, 30 million data sessions and 50.2 million text messages by roamers.
Once the full geographical roll out is complete, Orange and T-Mobile will notify customers with a text message to power their phone off and on again to get benefit of the new services.
EE will continue to provide regular network updates into 2012 to reflect their on-going investment in the development of their voice and data networks so that they can provide you and your customers with the best network experience.
