EU Data Roaming Regulations

EU Data Roaming Regulations

New EU Regulations mean that from 1 July 2010, data usage while roaming within Europe will be capped at 16MB per month.

This is an automatic cap, and all customers will be subject to the 16MB limit unless they opt out.

When a customer roams in the EU from 1 July, Orange will send a text message when they reach 8MB data usage, and another just before they reach 16MB.  Once they reach the 16MB limit, the customer's access to roaming data will be cut off unless they contact Orange to opt out.

If your customers are frequent users of roaming data, they should opt out of the cap if they don't want to stop receiving emails or using mobile broadband while in the EU.  If you have 3rd Party Access to their account you can do this on their behalf.

The opt out can be applied to selected individual numbers within a shared plan, or for the account as a whole.

Don't forget - the more chargeable data your customer uses, the greater their monthly bill.  This means a greater ongoing revenue share for you.
